A DREAM COME TRUE!

John and Tina Menoudakis, owners of RockStar Music School & Concert Hall, set a goal for themselves a long time ago. After building this very unique music school in 2006, they became obsessed with bringing in one of their main musical inspirations - Steve Vai.

They went as far as promising themselves that they would never have a Steve Vai song performed on their concert hall stage, until Steve had performed at RockStar himself.

That all changed on Tuesday, November 24th, 2009.

We were honoured to have Steve Vai present his Alien Guitar Secrets Master Class at RockStar Music School & Concert Hall and we can just about sum up the whole experience in one word . . . WOW!!!

The attendees came in from all over North America to get a chance to hear Steve share his most personal ideas and thoughts about music and life in general. This was not just a musical theory class or some guy trying to show us how to shred on the electric guitar. It was more about the attitude and approach we need to have in order to accomplish our goals, both musically and in life.

He had mentioned the most important thing to have is a deep desire and love for what it is you want to do, but at the same time, make sure you are realistic about it. Ever since he picked up the guitar at 13 years of age, he set out to become one of the most unique guitar players around and he worked very hard at it - after all, this is the man who is famous for the '10 Hour Guitar Workout'.

We would like to thank all the people who attended this historic event - those who travelled great distances, some of our very own RockStar students, our staff, family and friends who helped out.

RockStar is currently working on bringing some other big names in the music industry to the concert hall in the near future and we will let you know as soon as we have more details.

For now, we would like to thank Steve from the very bottom of our musical hearts for being part of the inspiration behind this school and making our dreams come true.

ROCKSTAR ROCKS THE EX!
RockStar Music School was honoured to be a big part of the Labour Day weekend festivities at The Canadian National Exhibition on Sunday, September 6th, 2009.

Thirteen of our very talented RockStar students played a 3 hour show at the Budweiser Midway Stage. It was non-stop rockin' entertainment from 3-6pm including over 30 cover songs and 3 original compositions.

We would like to take this time to thank all the students and parents who made it through 2-3 hours of traffic to make it to the biggest gig this school has ever played. Including the seated area, along with standing room and all the passers-by, the crowd was easily into the thousands.

It is very satisfying to know that the time and work we are putting into band practices is paying off, and many others are starting to notice. Stay tuned for much more to come from these amazing kids.

BREAKFAST TV VISITS ROCKSTAR! SO LONG SAMANTHA SAVOIA!!!

RockStar Music School & Concert Hall has officially had it's first television debut!!!

We were delighted to have CITY TV's Breakfast Television crew visit us on Tuesday, March 31st for the first ever MORNING student rock concert. Everyone who attended had a blast and especially Jennifer who simply could not resist the opportunity to rock out with some of the RockStar student members of The Twelve. Both the camera crew and Jennifer were shocked at just how good these kids are getting and we look forward to showing off our talents much more in the near future.

We would like to thank everyone who attended this amazing event and a very special thank you to Jennifer Valentyne and the Breakfast Television crew!

This past June we were treated to the Sam Savoia's last RockStar student concert.

It was a very emotional night for everyone and we enjoyed two more incredible performances from one of our very best students.

Sam is moving on to study jazz at Humber College and we wish her the very best in the future. She has always told us that her wish is to become a performing musician and with a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck, we hope all her dreams come true!

2009 YEARS END CONCERTS

One concert in May and two more in June brought us to the conclusion of our 3rd season at RockStar.

We have now put on nineteen student concerts in our concert hall and performed almost 300 songs! As usual the bar keeps getting higher and higher at this school, and we are simply amazed at how good these kids can be when they put some effort into their music.

We look forward to 20th Anniversary concert this coming December and we plan to make it something really special - stay tuned for more updates.

SONGWRITING DOCUMENTARY
Students and teachers have just completed our 4th songwriting camp at RockStar Music School. This time we decided to capture video footage of the entire process. We are now taking the time to edit the footage and we are looking at getting all students involved to actually create a professional recording of the songs they wrote in our recording studio.

There will be two more songwriting camps coming this summer along with other camps catering to younger children, so please feel free to inquire about our summer camp schedule for 2009.

Register for camps or lessons any time during
the year at RockStar. Call us at 905-951-3000 or email us for more info.

Thanks to everyone who came to the show. This group of kids has been practicing all summer to get ready to hit the road this fall. We are looking forward to playing many concerts in the near future at the RockStar Concert Hall and anywhere else we possibly can in the surrounding GTA.

This group of kids has been practicing with our musical director John Menoudakis every Tuesday between the hours of 6-9pm in order to get ready for future concert dates taking place in the greater Toronto area. We are super excited about this special RockStar project which includes our students playing cover songs from Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, The Beatles, Disturbed, Jimi Hendrix and a bunch of new material including RockStar originals. Their current set list can go over a couple of hours with over 25 songs.

BEST STUDENT CONCERTS YET!

Our latest two concerts, which took place on Friday, February 29th and Saturday, March 1st, 2008, marked our 9th and 10th student concerts at the RockStar Concert Hall and the students did an outstanding job.

DECEMBER 2007 IN THE BOOKS

We can't believe we have gone through ten of these concerts in just a year and a half, but the proof is in the pudding as they say. Our students put on 2 spectacular concerts and it truly shows how hard work and lots of practice pays off in the end.

Once again we would like to thank everyone who came and a special thank you to the students, teachers and staff for putting on our best shows yet.

CODA PLAYS 3 HOUR SHOW
When it comes to rock bands, there really is no other band like Led Zeppelin. We were truly honoured to have CODA play our concert hall on Sat., Oct. 13th. They performed an incredible 3 hour show highlighted by a musical reproduction of half of the epic movie 'The Song Remains The Same', note for note, along with all the Led Zeppelin favourites.

Our talented students once again put on great performances on Friday, December 14th and Saturday, December 15th as we closed the year of 2007. We have now put on 8 amazing concerts with 6 more scheduled in the coming months.

All the students benefited from our 4 weeks of free band practices and the crowd was treated to songs from Led Zeppelin to Linkin Park to Iron Maiden to Joe Satriani, including originals.

The band brought it's full line of amazing gear to help recreate some of the best moments from the famed Zeppelin movie including an identical Ludwig drum set just like John Bonham's (with gong of course) and a bunch of guitars including the classic double neck pictured with guitar player extraordinaire Dino Contos.

A very big thank you to Dino, Kelly, Robert and Paul for the amazing experience and a special thank you to all of the people who came to watch the show.

Our concert hall is a truly an amazing place to enjoy live music for the whole family so give us a call any time at 905-951-3000 to find out about our upcoming shows!

We had the distinct pleasure of meeting guitar virtuoso Steve Vai and his band at Massey Hall on Sunday, September 23rd. Our musical director John Menoudakis along with two of RockStar's finest guitar players, Josh Marrocco and Frankie Corrado, had an amazing time watching the master do his thing for 2 and half hours and were able to attend a meet and greet after the show. Pictured above is Josh, Frankie and John with the master himself.

We are currently having discussions with Steve about doing a Master Guitar Class at RockStar Music School & Concert Hall this coming year - stay tuned for more!

The students performed a ten song set including songs from Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, and two original songs written during our March Break Rock Camp.
