Nine local bands, including RockStar Music School's THE TWELVE came together to bring epilepsy and seizure disorders centre stage at Black & Purple Fest on June 26, 2009 at West 7 Nightclub & Lounge in Norval, Ontario. All proceeds from the all-ages event were raised in support Epilepsy Halton Peel.
"Epilepsy affects more than 20,000 people in Halton and Peel alone," explains Tahverlee Dunlop, executive director at Epilepsy Halton Peel. "Youth living with epilepsy often feel isolated and judged by their peers. Black & Purple Fest brought individuals of all ages together for a night of great music, all while increasing public understanding of epilepsy."
Epilepsy also affects RockStar owners John and Tina's family - their oldest daughter Andrea has absence seizures which is a form of epilepsy. Even though it may sometimes present challenges, Andrea deals with epilepsy everyday and It doesn't stop her from taking her music to new levels. She plays bass, piano & guitar and has played numerous gigs with her fellow RockStar students.

| ROCKSTAR ROCKS OUT WITH JADE!
Our RockStar students helped Jade Scognamillo raise funds for her Swim4Life challenge in support of Sick Kids Hospital. We enjoyed an evening of music, food and drink on May 26th, 2009 at Robert F. Hall High School. On August 1st, 2009 Jade Scognamillo became the youngest person to swim across Lake Ontario! What a wonderful team effort to carry Jade through this journey and help raise over $35,000 for SickKids Foundation.
